Hello everybody, I am Giordano Loi, a sculptor and a motorbikes enthusiastic.
I come from a family of artists and bikers so i tried to combine the two worlds even if they are poles apart
I do to motorcycles what Pininfarina did to cars: take a standard model, strip it of all of its components (fuel tank, fairings etc) just keeping the frame, reshape it, at first with clay then with the carbon fibre of the functioning prototype through complex steps. The drawing and planning of the smallest detail is part of the whole making.
“During my studies on sculpture I became curious about the particular problem of dynamism, meaning to breathe life into the matter, the illusion of energy just before the explosion, the static quiet of an immediate becoming.” These traits already were present within classical sculpture, and future pivot of futurist research, as in the work “Forme uniche nella continuità dello spazio” di Boccioni, where it is possible to admire the plastic movement of a body moving forward in the space. From the artistic experiences of the early ‘900 to the works of Jean Tinguely, such as “Eureka” where an engine appears for the first time in a work of art, I look for the meeting and fusion between man and sculpture, fundamental parts of a work.
Now sculpture is given the thinking matter necessary to become ‘alive’, besides having the mechanical means to enact movements. An object which no more belongs just to the symbolic world of art, but an object that takes such symbolism to enter everyday life.
When I create, I look for expressing the concept of dynamism in each of its traits, starting from classic sculptures to arrive to the design of motorcycles“.
It is here that the concept of “dynamic sculptures” comes to life.
